Activism & Spiritual Resistance, 1940-1970

Exhibit will be on display:
May 11 through late August 2017

Join the Holocaust Center as they open their next exhibit featuring photographs from the Teenie Harris Archive at the Carnegie Museum of Art.  The exhibit will have a central theme of activism, and will focus on three main topics spanning from 1940-1970: African-Americans during World War II, Jewish women’s involvement in social activism and reform in the 1950s, and Spiritual Resistance during the Civil Rights era of the 1960s.  

The opening reception will include a talk from Dr. Ralph Proctor, Professor of Ethnicity and Diversity Studies at Community College of Allegheny County, who will recount his memories of knowing Teenie Harris personally.  

Light refreshments will be served.   

Cost to attend the opening reception is $10, and free for survivors and students with a valid ID.
