Request for Proposals
JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER PITTSBURGH
Overseas Program Funding
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh is seeking applications for overseas program funding. Our Overseas Funding Committee is interested in funding projects and programs that have impact in at least one of the following areas:
- Food and Human Security Needs
- At Risk Youth
- Economic Development
- Shared Society
- Ethiopian Community
- Jewish Education
- Special Needs populations primarily in Israel and the Former Soviet Union
- Special consideration will be given to applications which work to enhance our Partnership 2Gether Region (Karmiel/Misgav).
This year we will be distributing $460,000. Most grants are given in a range of $10,000 to $25,000. The Committee strongly encourages projects to become self-sufficient within one to three years. Much of our funding goes to continued support of programs and projects funded in previous years, so in any given year we are likely to fund three to five new projects. Our funding is limited to organizations registered as United States 501(c)3 non-profits, or with legal conduits holding that status.
- A one-to two-page letter of inquiry, in English, that provides details for the following:
- The project or program for which you are seeking funding
- How this project or program fits within the above described funding priorities
- The amount of the grant you are requesting
- The total amount of the project or program
- Contact information
This letter must be signed by both the organization's senior director or manager and the president of the organization's Board of Directors. Please attach a Mission Statement, Annual Report, and board member list.
All letters of inquiry should be addressed to Jeff Markel, Chair, Overseas Funding Committee, Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and emailed c/o Kim Salzman, Director of Overseas Operations, Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh at firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line to read, "Letter of Inquiry for Overseas Funding." Letters of inquiry must be submitted by November 18, 2016. Finalists will be asked to submit a full Application for Overseas Program Funding. All applicants will be notified of their status by December 20, 2016. Full applications for Overseas Program Funding must be submitted by February 24, 2017.
